I am laughing, ok here we go! Let’s hit this controversial subject right away!
Now, my point of view is probably going to surprise most parents (adults).
Adults who are in a controlled work environment are allowed some free time. Some work places have seen benefits of giving X amount of days off per year, instead of X sick days and X vacation days. They see less sick days. Studies have shown the employees are receiving more benefit from their days offs. It is nice not to have to pretend to be sick, when one wants/needs a break.
Why should our children not be allowed the same consideration? Occasionally there will be times they might need or want time off.
I told my daughter at a young age, never pretend to be sick. If you want a day off, let’s plan it. If I know in advance, we can go play and have fun. Over the years, we have planned ahead and shared some fun times together.
I want my children to be good students, do their homework and try their best. I also want my children to be balanced. I want them to enjoy learning, and I want them to have fun!!!!
Moriah, do you think your friends would benefit if they could take off an occasional day? Do they ever pretend to be sick?
Wanna skip school tomorrow? (smile!)
Felicidad!!!
p.s. Who calls you Super Taco? Do she/he know you don;t even like tacos?
We should share the story of your list of names! Remember when you were in first grade, you told the kids at school, all of the girls you liked, their names were your middle names? laughing!
